There are certain things which necessarily benefit writers. Some writers favor a certain kind of notebook or pen, others a certain place where writing seems to happen more often. One of the main things, in order that we can call ourselves "writers" and not "scribblers" or some such, is having information on where we might submit our stories, poems, or essays.
I've looked around over time at various web listings of creative writing submission opportunities and there are some really great resources out there. But the one I've found most useful is the CRWROPPS mailing list. It's run by the wonderful and talented Allison Joseph and each day in my email inbox I receive opportunities (sometimes contests, sometimes calls for submissions) on markets that are looking for work. It's well worth looking into, at the very least, and you can find all of the information on it here. If you don't want to sign up for the Yahoo Groups stuff, you can also send a blank email to CRWROPPS-B-subscribe@yahoogroups.com in order to get hooked up with the listserv.
Check it out. You won't regret it.
Cheers,
Chris
